SCOOTER PROGRAM

OVERVIEW

The primary objective of the training program is to teach participants the safe operation of a scooter, while the secondary goal includes developing skills required to achieve motor vehicle license.

Similar to Motorcycle Safety Quest ‘Learn to Ride’, the course focuses on proper gear, balancing, importance of eyes, slow speed maneuvers, traffic interaction, hand signals, rear brake stopping, 2 brake stopping, cornering, quick stopping, stopping in a curve, repeated motorcycle testing practice, conspicuity, traffic cushion, counter balance steering, and emergency procedures. Emphasis will be placed on interactive traffic patterns and repeated motorcycle interaction as scooters are smaller than m/c and considered high risk by Insurance companies.

The educational components will follow similar philosophy established by MSQ to be delivered on site during the training program to allow for maximum time riding and becoming familiar with scooter operation.

You will need proper riding gear to ensure safety; full fingered gloves, DOT approved helmet, boots that go above the ankle, at least a denim jacket or motorcycle jacket and jeans.
